Historic Sites on the Lower Choptank River

The shores of the lower Choptank River lie in Talbot and Dorchester Counties.  This area is rich in the rural colonial history of tidewater Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

The Choptank and its major tributaries cover over 150 square miles.  Although distances are great, there are  many public landings that put these sites within easy reach of the casual paddler.
