Description

“A part of the old colored church opposite Mt. Pleasant Cemetery also did service as an institution of learning until the erection of the attractive new building on the Nichols road met existing need.” (Cochrane)

The only Mt. Pleasant Cemetery identified nearby is west of Preston.  This is also a Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad heritage site.  It is difficult to see how Cochrane relates this site to the distant Nichols Rd school site.
