This map and photo exhibit shows photos taken in about 2005 along the upper Choptank below the forks that are named Beaverdam Ditch and Tappahanna Ditch. The exhibit then covers stretches of the river up Tappahanna Ditch into farmlands south of Delaware Route 8.
True headwaters are probably along a branch of Tappahanna Ditch that extends north of Delaware Route 44, also known as Hartly Rd.
Identification of these ditches as sources of the Choptank assumes that the ditches follow the original steam bed and are not extensions beyond it
